March 31, 2017 — Joel McDonald of Rowan County, North Carolina, loved his dog Molly with all his heart. He was devastated when Molly went missing 4 years ago. Joel and his wife Carolyn always remained hopeful, but as time passed it seemed like the likelihood of Molly’s return was dwindling away.
Fast forward 4 years – It is an ordinary Tuesday and Joel opens his front door to go outside. And boom! There she is. Miraculously, Molly has returned. Or at least, this dog on his doorstep looks a lot like Molly.
“I didn’t know for sure but I thought it. And she just came and put her head in my lap and I said ‘oh my,’” Joel told news reporters.
Since Molly had been micro-chipped, the McDonald’s would be able to find out for sure if this dog was indeed Molly. Joel took her to the Animal Care Center of Salisbury to check. He felt in his heart that this was his long lost friend Molly, but he wanted the proof to erase all doubts.
Terry, who works in the office of the animal hospital was blown away when Joel came in with the dog and told her his story. She excitedly scanned the dog for a chip and found one!
“We didn’t ask him his name or anything, ” said Terry. “I did the scan, looked down and said ‘We got a number!’ I looked it up in my computer and I asked what’s your name? And I said that’s your Molly!” Terry exclaimed.
Terry was joyful crying when she told Joel the news. She wasn’t the only one. There were no dry eyes in the house that morning.
“I wasn’t expecting that. I’d already said she was gone,” Joel said.
The McDonald’s may never know what happened to Molly or where she was the past 4 years. Either way it does not matter.
All the matters is , as Carolyn McDonald said, “She’s back now!”
We are certain that the McDonald’s and Molly will enjoy catching up on all the missing treats and belly rubs that they missed!
